BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE

Hull City succumbed to a 2-0 defeat at home to title chasing Chelsea. Following a world class save by Allan McGregor from Oscar, a well worked Eden Hazard goal finally broke the deadlock. Fernando Torres then preceeded to wrap up the three points with a low shot from 18 yards.

SKY BET CHAMPIONSHIP

In the Yorskhire Derby, Sheffield Wednesday put Leeds United to the sword with a 6-0 demolition. Reda Johnson opened the scoring with Atdhe Nuhiu doubling the advantage on the half time whistle. Matt Smith was then sent off for the visitors, just sixty seconds after coming off the bench with Connor Wickham & Chris Maguire extending the lead. The demolition was completed by substitute Caolan Lavery, who scored twice in the final ten minutes.

Middlesbrough continued the current great run of form they’re on at the moment with a 2-0 victory away at Blackpool. Both goals came in the final ten minutes from Mustapha Carayol who put away two low shots.

Huddersfield Town had record signing Nahki Wells to thank for their 1-0 victory at home to Millwall. The Bermudan, who joined from rivals Bradford on Friday, came off the substitutes bench and pounced from a missed Paul Robinson header to secure the Terriers a last gasp victory.

At Ewood Park, Doncaster Rovers lack of from continued with a 1-0 defeat away at Blackburn Rovers. The only goal in the game came on the brink of half time when Rudy Gestede headed home.

And finally, Barnsley were left frustrated after the trip to Charlton Athletic was postponed due to a Waterlogged Pitch shortly after 1pm.

SKY BET LEAGUE ONE

In the Sport Baht’at in association with MJK Sports Events featured match, Bradford City began life post Nahki Wells with a 1-1 draw with relegation threatened Bristol City. James Hanson opened the scoring after just 54 seconds before a number of defensive errors ten minutes later allowed Scott Wagstaff to grab the equaliser.

Rotherham United continued there charge up the table but had to come back from behind to defeat Crewe Alexandra 4-2. After falling behind to a Brad Inman strike, the Millers drew level through Kieran Agard before conceding to a Kelvin Mellor effort. Lee Frecklington then equalised from the penalty spot before Adam Collin denied Crewe a third from the spot, further goals from Alex Revell and Frecklington moved the side to fifth.

And finally for this divison, Sheffield United went down 2-1 away at Notts County. Conor Coady gave the Blades an early lead before goals from both Enoch Showunmi and Mark Fotheringham wrapped up the the three points for the Magpies.

SKY BET LEAGUE TWO

Our only side in this division, York City, picked up a third consecutive victory as they defeated bottom club Northampton. Despite early Cobblers pressure, the men from North Yorkshire secured victory with two goals in three minutes. Ryan Bowman opened the scoring before Wes Fletcher put away a penalty to wrap up the three points.

SKRILL PREMIER

FC Halifax Town played out a goalless draw away at Wrexham. Town’s best effort came through a Lois Maynard header despite Brett Ormerod being sent off for fighting.

FA TROPHY

Flying high near the Skrill North summit, North Ferriby United stunned Lincoln City 4-0 at Sincil Bank. They went into the interval with a two goal lead through Liam King and Ryan Kendall, a Nathan Jarman penalty and another King goal completed the shock in the second half.

And, Guiseley bowed out with a 3-0 defeat away at Aldershot Town, a result which ends Mark Bower’s outfits fifteen game unbeaten streak in all competitions following his appointment as manager.

SKRILL NORTH

Bradford Park Avenue sent Gloucester City closer to the drop with a 3-2 victory in Cheltenham. Jordan Deacey, Adam Clayton and Alex Davidson give the Avenue a three goal advantage before Gloucester staged a late fightback with Matt Groves and Will Morford scoring late on.

Harrogate Town also picked up a victory, but had to come from behind to secure the 2-1 triumph over Stalybridge Celtic. Sean McConville put the visitors into the lead, before a Chris Hall equaliser and Adam Nowakowski winner securing three points for Town.

EVO-STIK LEAGUE

Stocksbridge Park Steels are now eleven points from safety in the Evo-Stik Premier League after Danny South’s equaliser grabbed them a point in a 1-1 home draw with Marine. Frickley Athletic shared the spoils with Witton Albion following a goalless draw in South Yorkshire. Whitby Town also played out a goalless draw away at Rushall Olympic.

In Division One North, Ossett Albion narrowed the gap at the bottom of the table following a 2-0 victory away at Clitheroe. Farsley kept their promotion push going with a 2-1 home victory over New Mills whilst Ossett Town also secured three points with a 3-1 home victory over Padiham. Wakefield got spanked 4-0 away at Warrington Town whilst Harrogate Railway Athletic went down 2-0 at home to Darlington 1883.

In Division One South, Scarborough Athletic succumbed to a 2-0 defeat away at Coalville Town with Goole and Sheffield FC both having weekends off after there respective fixtures were postponed due to a Waterlogged Pitches.

TOOLSTATION NORTHERN COUNTIES EAST FOOTBALL LEAGUE

In the Premier Divsion, Tadcaster Albion kept their title charge going with a 6-0 demolition of Lincoln Moorlands Railway. Albion Sports charge up the table continued with a 3-0 away victory against Pickering Town. Parkgate lost a second successive South Yorkshire Derby after going down 4-1 at home to Athersley Recreation whilst Bridlington Town picking up a 2-0 away victory against Glasshoughton Welfare. Elsewhere, Armthorpe Welfare picked up a 2-0 victory over Maltby Main and Nostell Miners Welfare remained cut adrift following a 3-2 defeat away at high flying Basford United.

In the First Division, Shaw Lane Aquaforce kept their place at top of the table following a 3-0 victory away at Appleby Foderingham. Pontefract Colleries kept their fading promotion dreams alive with a 3-0 home victory over Shirebrook Town but the gap remained at seven points due to Knaresborough Town going down 2-0 at home to Bottesford Town. Elsewhere, Eccleshill United won 2-0 away at Grimsby Borough whilst Hall Road Rangers were defeated 5-3 at home to Clipstone. Finally in the West Yorkshire Derby, AFC Emley and Yorkshire Amateur shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw.

NORTH WEST COUNTIES FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Our only side in this division Silsden remain four points clear of the division’s drop zone following a 2-2 draw away at mid-table outfit AFC Blackpool.

WEST RIDING COUNTY AMATEUR LEAGUE

Due to postponments, only two games took place this weekend. Tyersal picked up an impressive 5-1 home victory over Halifax Irish to move above there opponents & in the divisions other game, Ovenden West Riding moved four points clear at the top with a 1-0 home victory over Salts.

In the Premier Division Cup, Campion progressed with a 4-1 victory at home to Huddersfield YMCA.
